Pocket Utopia : ウィキペディア英語版 | Pocket Utopia Founded in 2007 by artist Austin Thomas, Pocket Utopia began as an alternative artists' space in a storefront on Flushing Avenue in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. After hosting exhibitions, salon discussions and other events for two years, Thomas closed the gallery to focus on her studio practice. Two years later, in 2012, Pocket Utopia reopened at 191 Henry Street in Manhattan, and, according to art critic Roberta Smith, became "one of the more singular bright spots in the Lower East Side firmament." Dedicated to working more closely with a smaller group of artists, the new Pocket Utopia represented Sharon Butler (publisher of ''Two Coats of Paint''〔(Two Coats of Paint )〕), Paul D'Agostino (director of Centotto〔(Centotto )〕), Kris Graves (director of +Kris Graves Projects〔(+Kris Graves Projects )〕), Ellen Letcher (Co-founder of the now-closed gallery Famous Accountants〔(Famous Accountants )〕), and Matthew Miller. In 2014, Pocket Utopia merged with Chelsea gallery Hansel and Gretel Picture Garden to form Hansel and Gretel Picture Garden Pocket Utopia. ==References==
